Ashima is a Partner with the New Delhi office of Phoenix Legal and her areas of practice include private equity and venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate advisory including Company law, SEBI and foreign exchange related advisory. Ashima has advised clients in diverse sectors ranging from fintech, ed-tech, agritech, SAAS, e-commerce (B2C and B2B), manufacturing, insurance, real estate, media and telecommunications, sports, food and beverages, etc.

  • advised Matrix Partners on its investments in various tech-based start-ups at seed stage and senior rounds of funding.
  • advised Surge Ventures III (a rapid scale up program by Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequioa India) for startups in India and Southeast Asia) on its investment in a software as service start-up helping e-commerce brands to market and sell products through chat based applications such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
  • advised Truescale Capital on its investment in a business-to-business fast moving consumer goods wholesale startup.
  • advised Matrix Partners, Kalaari Capital and Bhart Innovation Fund on its exit from a company providing technology and analytical solutions for the purpose of prospecting, credit underwriting, risk management, customer management and delinquency management, customer verifications services, etc., by way of 100% acquisition by a fintech company.
  • advised Matrix Partners on its exit from a lifestyle brand pursuant its acquisition by G.O.A.T Brands PTE Limited.
  • advised Exploring Infinities Edtech Private Limited (Bhanzu) on its fund raise of 15m$ (Series A round) led by Eight Roads Ventures, along with B Capital and Lightspeed Ventures.
  • advised MonotaRO Co. Ltd., Japan’s largest industrial products e-commerce supplier, in acquiring majority shareholding in a company running and operating B2B e- commerce business.
  • advised a fortune 500 company, in relation to a strategic investment by a Japanese multinational for acquisition of control to become a joint promoter along with the existing promoters.
  • advised entities engaged in the business of acting as third-party administrator, and their shareholders in relation to the sale of the entire shareholding of these entities to entity engaged in similar business activities
  • advised a Singapore based technology solutions company (which owns a digital lending venture in India) and its founder in relation to its Series B investment.
  • advised a Dubai based company (incubator accelerator) to acquire stake in an Indian company engaged in the oil and gas industry.
  • advised an Indian company engaged in the media and entertainment sector to set up a joint venture in Dubai for running and operating a cricket team in Masters Champions League, Dubai.
  • advised an Indian company engaged in the media and entertainment sector to set up a joint venture in Dubai for running and operating a bike racing team.
  • advised an Indian company engaged in the food and beverage industry to set up a joint venture in the United Kingdom for running and operating restaurants.
